License Test Preparation

There are several ways to study for a test, and we understand that everyone learns best in different ways. These are a few of our recommendations on how to study for your exam session.

BOOKS

There are a number of fantastic books available to study the material covered in the tests. They have the questions from the test pools to study, some even have removable flash cards to study from. Many go deeper to explain the theory behind the questions. Here is a few of our recommendations. This is not a complete list. Most books are available in print or ebook. The ARRL website as well as Amazon.com are great places to find additional resources.

STUDY WEBSITES

There a few websites out there that are great study aides. Websites have the added benefit of being portable without having to tote around study books. Several offer practice tests, and track your progress to refer you back to areas that need some improvement. Websites are also great to study through repetition, as specific areas to study can be specified.

  • HamExam.org - A great and FREE website to study and test your knowledge.
  • HamRadioLicenseExam.com - This site does require a subscription, however, each question also has a referenced explaination to elaborate the point. It also features an interesting score/progress tracking system.

MOBILE APPS

Mobile technology is the way of the future it would seem. Naturally there are a number of applications available for Apple and Android products. A great approach if you are always on the go. There are several amazing apps to learn morse code if that is something you are interested in.
